WebQuest

Web-Quest on Data Security and Integrity.

According to Wiggins 1990 a well-designed Web-quest combines research-supported theories with effective use of the Internet to promote dependable instructional practices. A Web-quest is also assignment students complete using the Internet to research a specific topic. A Web-quest can be printed on paper, presented in a PowerPoint, or on the Internet itself.A task that is drawn from the introduction and sets out the goal is the most important aspect of the Web-quest. There is often a Focus Question that defines the task. The task needs to be based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and contain a problem to solve. Blakey & Spence 1990 Web-quest allows students to work at their own pace either individually or in a team where they must accomplish the task. In Information Technology using the topic Data Security and integrity the teacher allows students to have a hands on experience when conducting their research. The proper materials were used and the students compiled information and gave feedback. This was a step by step process and the students critical thinking had to come in play. The lesson overall was a good experience and it help students to be motivated when working with the different technological devices that were made available to them.
